Maternity photography with Amy is a unique, fun and emotional experience. It is more than just pictures of your pregnancy and belly. It is an artistic way to honor and preserve the creation of your own family with each generation. A maternity portrait session celebrates life by appreciating the miracles of pregnancy, the strength of motherhood and the unexplainable joy when your baby is born. Many mothers have expressed their appreciation when they are reminded daily of their strengths as they glance at their maternity portrait. "I've hung my portrait near my children's room. The Portrait Process

Amy Dawnelle uses modern digital photography equipment for her fine-art portrait photography. All of her portraits are printed with archival quality inks which allow your images to stay vivid for at least 100 years before beginning to fade. This gives you an heirloom portrait that is archival quality and will be cherished for generations.

Your Personal Portrait Session

Most portrait sessions are scheduled for up to one hour. Some baby photography sessions may last up to two hours. This allows mommy and baby to remain relaxed. Be prepared to just do what your baby tells us to do! We end up with better images when we do what the baby tells us to do.

Before your portrait session, Amy likes to discuss your vision of the portrait session. Amy will share her ideas as well as any new photography suggestions. Depending on your portrait session type, Amy will photograph an entire collection of backdrop and pose changes for you to choose from. You will be scheduled 7 - 10 days later to return to the portrait studio for your expressions viewing appointment. At this appointment you will select from your favorite poses and expressions to purchase the final printed portrait photographs. Print package pricing is available to view online. Low Resolution digital images are available on CD with each 8x10 or larger that is ordered.

What Is The First Step When Scheduling A Portrait Session

Please review the session fee and portrait pricing pages. This will help you to get an idea of what type of session you would like. It is best to contact Amy as soon as you have decided to have your maternity portraits or newborn portraits taken. We typically schedule four to six weeks in advance and six to eight weeks at holiday time. To reserve your portrait day and to discuss portrait details please call Amy at (951)-294-1059. Please be prepared to make a non-refundable deposit of $50 to reserve your portrait session. The balance of the session fee will be due on your portrait day. You may make your deposit by credit card or by check.

How To Be Prepared For My Portrait Session

Maternity Photography:

It is best to come to your maternity portrait session with your hair and makeup done moderately. Overdone hair and makeup is discouraged to keep with the natural feeling of Amy's maternity portrait style. She encourages you to bring a change of clothing. One simple, black or white. And one with a little more color and style. Jeans if you are into that casual look as well as bringing along black and white undergarments preferably boy-short style. Often your maternity images may be captured nude or almost nude and simple undergarments will enhance these looks.

Newborn Photography:

5-7 days of life is the absolute best time for newborn baby capture. Simple is best. A white onesie, and a naked baby is all you need. Bring along a black shirt for mommy and daddy if you would like the images of baby in arms and hands. With these images please be prepared for a few potty accidents especially with babies who are nursed. Siblings are welcomed however the best sibling images are captured once baby is able to sit up. For the drive to the studio please dress the baby in an outfit that zips or snaps up. Nothing that needs to be pulled over the head. If the baby falls asleep in the car we'll want him/her to stay asleep for the session. Zips and snaps in front will make it easy to undress without waking your baby. If you would rather not bring your baby to the studio Amy is happy to come to your home. This session would be considered environmental.

Baby Photography:

As far as outfits go Amy likes it all, lots and lots of cuteness. Bring everything and we'll come up with a plan when you get here. Naked images are always good for babies, but then there are all the cute outfits and accessories. Hats, scarfs, jackets, bring it!

Displaying Your Portrait Collection

Many people will ask how their photographs should be displayed once their session has been completed. Amy offers a home design consultation, to help create the perfect wall decor for your home. Your portrait collection will provide options for storyboards and composites, heirloom albums, large wall portraiture and gallery wrapped canvas. Low Resolution digital images are available on CD with each 8x10 or larger that is ordered.
