Your Portrait Session

A maternity portrait session celebrates life by appreciating the miracles of pregnancy, the strength of motherhood and the blessing of creating life. Maternity photography with Amy is a unique and  fun experience. It’s more than just pictures of your pregnancy and belly. It’s an artistic way to honor and preserve the creation of your  family with each generation. Your maternity and baby portraits can be created in the studio or on location. During your portrait session Amy will photograph an entire collection of backdrop and pose changes for you to choose from. You will then be scheduled to return to the studio the following week  for your viewing appointment in our theater. At this appointment you will select from your favorite poses and expressions to purchase the final printed portrait photographs.

The Maternity Photography Session

It is best to come to your maternity portrait session with your hair and makeup done moderately. This will compliment the natural feeling of Amy’s maternity portrait style. You may bring clothing changes if you would like. However, we do provide all of the drapes and cloths used in the gallery images. Please bring along to your maternity session a pair of black and a pair of white undergarments preferably strapless bra and boy-short style panties. Often your maternity images may be captured nude or almost nude and simple undergarments will enhance these looks. If Daddy will be in the portraits a black and a white button up shirt or T-shirts works best.

The Newborn Photography  Session

Typically a newborn session is scheduled before baby is born. A newborn session is best scheduled within 5-7 days of baby’s due date and in most cases this date is very close to the actual birthday. Reserving your newborn session within the month will allow for rescheduling if needed.  Most portrait sessions are scheduled for up to one hour. Although, some newborn photography sessions may last up to two hours. This allows mommy and baby to remain relaxed and to stop and feed if needed without feeling rushed. On portrait day be prepared to just do what baby tells us to do. We will end up with better images that way. Bring the baby to the session in footie style pj’s that snaps up the front. If they fall asleep in the car it is easier to keep the baby asleep by not pulling cloths over their head.  During the newborn photography session, your baby may tend to eat more often than normal. These are usually comfort feedings or to just get baby back to sleep.  A pacifier is always helpful in keeping a baby sleepy, please bring one.  Please bring along black shirts for both mom and dad to be photographed in and a change of clothing for everyone. Especially with little boys… There’s always a chance of showers!
